Deconstruction of mise-en-scene

Deconstruction of mise-en-scene

I am going to-do a deconstruction on mise-en-scene in urban dramas films, I have looked at a selection of films and found some trends.

Characters usually wear dark clothing due to the dark atmosphere which is set in urban drama films especially within the UK.
This image shows characters wearing dark clothing where they are also wearing hoodies, trainers and on bikes commonly shown in urban dramas.
As we cam see there is a clear trend in the clothing being hoodies, tracksuits, bomber jackets, trainers and hats.

The images above are taken from different films the first being adulthood, then kidulthood and 8mile all popular urban drama movies.

Within urban dramas there is a lot of violence, one prop which is commonly used is guns. Image from kidulthood.

In this clip from 8mile we are seen that he is shown also holding a gun, as well as there being a dark lighting and setting.
Bullet boy also shows the trend of guns in urban dramas.

Another weapon i have found which is a common prop used in urban drama is a baseball bat, from this scene of adulthood we see one character holding a gun and the other with a bat.

In this image we see two boys in hoodies as well as holding baseball bats again.

From looking at the mise en scene in different urban drama films I can see the trend used throughout, this consists of tracksuits, hoodies, trainers, hats, guns, baseball bats, bikes and cars. By looking at this I am able to take these ideas and use them in our trailer.
