Survey Response Analysis

Be have decided to do our trailer on the genre of Urban Drama. Before we can start planning and creating our urban drama trailer, we created a survey which included a number of questions to do with urban drama films. We then shared the survey onto many different social media sites where we received 70 responses so we had a variety of different answers and opinions from the audience on urban dramas. 

From this response we can see that movies effect the audiences emotions more than books by a significant amount, this tells us that our choice of a trailer than a book will effect our audience more and need to think carefully what will effect them.

The responses from this question tells us that the audience don't mind drug scenes, there are a few which do but the majority don't. We therefore will include a few drugs scenes within our trailer.

The survey tells us that by 84% the audience would watch a film about gangs, we will now include gangs within our trailer. This will also allow our trailer to be more realistic showing what is happening within society today with gangs and crime.

The most popular location answered for urban drama movies was high rise flats with estates and trap houses close behind. There was a few responses for car parks and alley way, therefore in our trailer we will mainly include shots of high rise flats, estates and trap houses for our locations. We may also include some shots of car parks and alleys as there was a few responses for these as well and are common locations used for urban dramas. Urban dramas often include many different locations so it is good we can have a variety of different locations. 

As we can see from this response the majority of people don't watch films in order to learn the viewpoints of others, roughly 60% don't and 30% do. We will now not include much of someone else's viewpoint, we may include a bit as our trailer is a social realism film so therefore it is based on someones life, but we will try to make it not so focused of their view.

Our responses show us that guns and knives are the most effective weapons for urban drama films, in our trailer we will include guns and knives.

The majority of responses show us that people think crime rates are at their highest at midnight onward, our second highest response is evening. In our trailer we will show our scenes to do with crime at the evening to midnight and on wards, we will not show clips of crime in the day or morning as these were our lowest responses and least common.

Our responses show that people think gang mentality is relevant to current society, over 70% of people think this. Due to our responses we will show gang mentality within our trailer. 

We  received a high response rate for male as the best protagonist for urban drama movies, this is probably due to them being more aggressive than females and where urban dramas include crime and violence a male would be best suited for the roles, therefore we will use a male for our protagonist.

Our responses show that the majority of people who answered our survey prefer movies that relate to actual events happening within society. For our urban drama trailer we will include events happening within youth society this will be things such as underage drinking, teenage pregnancy, crime and whatever may be happening within society today effect the youth.

By doing this survey and getting a number of responses from different people, we are now able to have a clearer idea of what our trailer will include. We have now been able to decide on the protagonist, locations, weapons and a number of other things due to our survey. We will now begin to look for the locations, actors, weapons and other things need to create our trailer.
