Location Scouting

        Location Scouting
1st location - Highrise flats:

This image shows high rise flats in Maidstone. In relation to urban dramas, high rise flats are commonly used as these are usually located in working class and poorer areas. This therefore stereo-typically relates to an increase in crime rates and leads to more criminal activity such as gangs, drugs and robberies due to the amount of people struggling and unhappy with their own living situations.

This would be a good location to film at. A shot I feel is necessary and will be very effective is a shot filming a pan of the bottom of the building and then slowly moving upwards showing the middle and the top of the building. Also another shot is pan of the location while the narrator’s voiceover is playing in the background.

2nd location: Under bridge by Sainsbury's

These pictures show the location of the underpass under a bridge near Sainsbury's in Maidstone. This is a very local location and therefore it will be easy to get to and therefore use. I believe that this location, if used in our urban drama trailer, will be very  effective as it is empty, isolated and rundown which will display a more realistic feel of working class areas.

There is a lot of litter on the floor, broken gates and graffiti  showing the area is not very well looked after. The graffiti is a very common feature in urban drama films and creates an urban feel and represents rebellion and gang activity.
