Voice Over

As we are making and urban drama film trailer as a group was thought that we should incorporate a voice over track. this is because voice overs are a very common convention used in social realism films and there are commonly seen in trailers for them,. Some examples of this would be Brother and shank.

Because we have decided this it means we will have to record a voice over. This means we will have to both plan and record the audio footage. First off as a group we sat down and drafted the script for the main character to be read an recorded. We timed the audio voice over with the shots so they could sort of explain what was going on without having to tell the full story. As seen below this is the script he will follow and that will play over the footage.

After we had planned it all out we then went to a room where there would be no background audio. This is so that the voice over would seem professional. We didn't ant any talking in the background that could be heard when we pasted the sound in. We also made sure that the quality of the audio was perfect. we used actual recording equipment rather then our phones so the quality of the sound was crisp. we also made sure that Hugo's voice was still in character as he has to sound like an urban boy who has joined a gang but we also made sure that the audience would be able to understand what he is saying through clear any precise words.

after recording the voice we had to edit it into the video footage. We made sure that the audio was synced correctly. This means that our audio seemed tailored to the footage. As the voice over talked about good grades and good friends Charlie and Hugo were seen in a car opening grades and when Hugo talked about joining a gang he was then show shacking hands with a dealer. All of these points make the voice over sound really effective and work with the entire piece.
